Winner of Contest Inspired by Trip to Yellowstone

Winner of Contest Inspired by Trip to Yellowstone

AMS 8th-grader, Shrikar Patnaik returned to school this year excited to share his story about his recent trip to Yellowstone National Park.  Shrikar was selected as a winner in the America's Field Trip Contest, in celebration of America's 250th anniversary.  His former Social Studies Teacher, Mr. Andrew Nappi. brought the contest to Shrikar's attention and encouraged him to apply.

"Every second of the trip was serene and inspirational, from hiking to learning about the park’s beginnings and, of course, the wildlife like bison and wolves," Shrikar shared, reflecting on his experience. "Being in nature’s elegance and seeing the famous geysers up close made me truly appreciate the outdoors even more."

In a heartfelt note to Mr. Nappi, Shrikar expressed his gratitude, saying, "Winning and participating in this competition has been one of the most rewarding aspects of my life, and I’m tremendously thankful for the opportunity and the support you have given me." Shrikar is actively involved in the History and Hiking Clubs, both of which Mr. Nappi co-advises.
