AMS History Club Visits Historic Purdy House

AMS History Club Visits Historic Purdy House
AMS History Club members learning history of Purdy House

The AMS History Club recently visited the historic Purdy House, home of Jacob and Abigail Purdy, which also served as General George Washington’s headquarters during the Battle of White Plains in October 1776.

Members of the White Plains Historical Society volunteered their time to bring history to life for our students through engaging reenactments.

"Mr. Purdy" shared insights into the daily life of colonial militia members, while "Mrs. Purdy" led students on a tour of her home, discussing the roles and experiences of women and children in Westchester County during the Revolutionary War.
